HOPE IS HERE, FOR LEARNING TO SWIM FAST IN ÁFRICA.

Continuing Our Mission Despite Funding Challenges

Work has been going on as usual with not enough funds for expansion and growth like we planned for the year 2024. Lack of experience on how to raise funds would not hinder our drive for change. So we keep trying to raise funds to be able to develop and execute the 2024 SID Action plan that includes 7 schools for children with disabilities, renovation of one swimming pool for use by 5 of the schools and training at least 10 workers in a Boot Camp. No funds for any of these yet. We continue receiving a lot of financial support from my Mum and a few friends. And thanks to this support we have given 15 scholarships to 15 out of the about 150 students in the Pacelli school for the Blind or visually impaired in Lagos Nigeria. Giving water healing therapy and swim training in Africa is our dedication.

Current Staff and Website Development

For now we could only afford to have 2 Staff members in training.

We built our Swim in 1 Day website www.swimin1day.org earlier this year.

Access to Schools and Conferences

We got consent from the Lagos Ministry of Education with regards to allowing us access to 5 schools for children with disabilities, 3 with intellectual disabilities (mixed), another 2 with hearing and speech disabilities. We also have access to 2 private schools with kids with visual disabilities. Lack of Funds is slowing us down from teaching these and more to swim in one day, no matter age or disability, fear or phobia, age or trauma.

We have participated in a national conference for people with disabilities, putting on the table our reintegration system through sports, integration and social normalization, and recovery of physical and cognitive abilities, and self-esteem through swimming.

Seeking Grants and Support

We have contacted several national and international organizations for grants and hope for good news before the end of the year. Please let us know if you have any direct contacts that could help.

Our Work and Impact

On our website and social media pages you can see the rest of the teaching work we are doing thanks to the donations thus far.
